UP SEEMS SO DOWN ARTWORK 500.jpg

the street signs are dark they won't tell me your name

you're bubbling over like a glass of champagne

we wade through the myre, through the muck of your veins

you know you're alive cause you know you're in pain

sticks and bones may break by stones

the words may prick but then they'll leave you alone

the magistrates sent for you, reeling and wronged

but they're never around when you really need one.

caught your reflection in the window

  i'm sure it wasn't you.

and we're worlds apart now. no one else around.

and i know this can't be true

the streets are darker by a cloud covered sky

your smile is wavering like the pall bearer's stride

the procession marches on with the funeral tide

ebbing to the north on a cold winter night

castle king bishop bridge rook knight and pawn.

morning breaks fast with the dusk of the dawn.

a year rolls by like it's nothing at all.

you pray the gift from the clouds will come and swallow you whole.

caught your reflection in the window

  i'm sure it wasn't you

and we're worlds apart now. no one else around

and i know this can't be true

and i know this can't be true

    and i know this can't be you…

Oh when the saints..

previously unpublished unrecorded verse

how many nights go endlessly by?

how many sentences end with a sigh?

how many tragedies will carve out your life?

how may tear drops equal good-bye.
