15minutes (Daylight Saving time)

and i’ve got daylight saving time

telling me i’ve lost an hour in this 15minute drive

somewhere between your house and mine’

now did i lose myself or leave me far behind?

now did i lose my soul or did i lose my mind?

you said, “you still need something more...”

i said i’d be sure and look for it as i walked past you out the door,

why did you ask, “what is this for?”

i didn’t come to conquer i just came here to explore

1st chorus:

just say it doesn’t mean anything

 that everything is still nothing

and all you said is all there is

 and that everything vanishes

you said tonight you lost your faith

i said tonight your words feel as empty as a grave

where thing’s get buried but thing’s don’t stay

they grow up as thorns or we go dig them up like slaves.

your trace still stains my fingertips

it’s not the outline it’s the absence of your lips

the heart refrains in fear of this

we claim to want it all [but we’re frightened off at/by a glimpse]

but we’re scared to death if/when we catch a glimpse

2nd chorus:

so say it doesn’t mean anything

 that everything is still nothing

and all that’s left is all there is

 and everything just vanishes

on the way home i couldn’t beat the train.

a few more minutes to think if i could do it all again

and while i’m choking on what i said

i think of you hangin there with all your insecurites wrapped twice around your neck

so if my clock says one it must be twelve

and/then none of this happened so i’m just talking to myself

in all the confusion i see today is here

the clock struck twelve [again], tomorrow and yesterday just disappeared

come now gabriel, blow your horn

let [the] angels come let heaven pour

take this all into His hands

i don’t want it i never did

take this all away...

come now gabriel, blow your horn

let angels sing let devils mourn

take this all from my hands.

i don’t need it. i never did.

come now michael do your job

clear the way let heaven come

midnight is morning the sea is dry

and the sun doesn’t seem so bright

and the night before too...

and the day after too...

2 minutes longer

thanks to you i carry a thesaurus in my back pocket

but the words i say they never seem to come out right

some people speak and the words just flow like water

but me i mess it up everytime i try

i'd like to say,"hello, you mean the whole world to me

and the only reason i wake up is to see you smile

i used to practice for hours and hours in the mirror

but i got tired of seeing myself so much evrey night.

and if you don't hear the words i say

then none of this matters anyways..

thanks to you i talk myself to sleep every night

i don't know if i'm boring or just run out of things to say

but i've dreams of you to occupy my night times

i just have to keep working on the times when i'm awake

and if you don't hear the words i say

then none of this matters anyway..

november 4th 1996   2:13 am  actually the 5th

in my living room..

it was just a song floating through the air and i was fortunate enough to catch it..

Girl when I wake up I don’t know you anymore

E                                                                     C#m

You aren’t the one I took dancing the woman that I adore

A                                                                           E

Even when we go out I feel it’s all a show

A                                                                           E                                 B7

You aren’t the woman that I married or I carried over our front door

Verse 2

Maybe if I kissed you, I’d miss you in my arms

Maybe if you missed me, we could shelter all these storm

Winter weather and social gatherings, stole from us from the calm

Now it’s cold and icy snow and we can’t seem to get warm

Chorus 1

G                                    C               Am7

Is it too late? Is it too late to go back?

Is it too late? Is it too late for all of that?

Is it too late? Can we get this train on track?

Verse 3

I said I never leave you oh but darling you left me

Can’t find the kindhearted person I know you used to be

Now we just stare out the windows on our phones or the tv

Is there nothing left of her is there nothing of me?

Chorus 2

G                                    C               Am7

Is it too late? Is it too late to go back?

Is it too late? Is it too late for all of that?

Is it too late? Can we get this train on track?

Bridge

     Em                                    G                 Bb                 A7

And when the raindrops fall you’ll swear you’ve heard it all/had enough

        C                          G                                        B7

I don’t think I understand, what’s that in your hand?

Chorus 2

G                                    C               Am7

Now it too late? Now it too late to go back?

Now it too late? Now it too late for all of that?

Now it too late? The train slid off the track?

3 stories

                 D

i've been standing on my feet, just ten miles away.

listening to the radio been working here all day

i'm calling late baby, i'll come home late again.

can you tell the kids i'm sorry and put them both to bed.

             G                                Gm

and time doesn't wait for anyone.

          E7

      time doesn't wait for anyone.

               D                                                                 G

if you're ready, ready, ready, i'll be ready when you are..

and if you're ready, ready, ready,  i'll be ready when you are..

sharri's on the corner with her prom dress still on

waiting for mr.right to come and take her home

and if you've got the money man she's got the pout

and if you're short a little she's bound to help you out..

if you're ready, ready, ready, ready when you are..

then she's ready, ready ready, ready when you are.

and time doesn't wait for anyone.  and time doesn't wait for love.

instead it just slowly marches on.  and then one day it slowly catches up.

   (repeat chorus)

as for addison and susie i don't know what to say

you've got the world at your feet but it changes everyday.

i see you want what you've found and you've found what you want

so you better hold on tight, because it only comes round once..

   (repeat chorus)

three true stories that are all woven into my life

i think of it as three stories of a building and each level holds a different character's story.  but all the characters kept their real names for the song.

started 1995 spring

finished 1997 fall

50% of everything (is half of nothing)

I’m casually critical

Cavalierly cruel

I’m constructed on conjecture

I’ve played the king and fool

I’m simple as symposiums

And I’m tragic in tragedies

I’m caught up in the catastrophe

I’m cutout from the crest

I believe the unbelievable but I’m cautious of the rest

50% I believe half of what everyone says

50% you’ve got to prove the rest

I’m confounded by the conundrums

I’m a castaway from the curse

There are 30 drops of silver jingling in your purse

I’m curated by the courtesy

Of those wiser than myself

I’m cast out of the collective

For thinking for myself

I’m a million other voices

I know the price you paid I’ve been bought and I’ve been sold.

50% I believe 50% of everything you say

And those aren’t good odds if you want me to stay

I’m cut out from the cruelty I’m cavalier in my response

I’m caught up in the landslide

And I launched the avalanche

There’s coors in the cooler and there’s country on the code

There’s crazy way of thinking nobody seems to know

I’m caught up in the landslide I’m crushed beneath the weight

Caught up in the curriculums none of us ever chose

50% I believe half of what everyone says

50% you’ve got to prove the rest

wise men would know when to say thank you but i've had my fill

you let me push you away and still  you're my favourite pill.

that i would take when i'm down, down on my luck, down on my will.

down on my knees, down on the floor, hanging by my window sill.

and so this is today, etched by the hem of your voice.

be careful of what you might say, regret's the benefit of choice.

so let's go back to the days when we could hang with the boys

yeah lover's love, fighters fight, c'mon let's go make some noise.

and if i try not to kiss you. then at least know /believe me, i tried.                  f

when your hands touch my hands and we leave this whole scene behind.

when will i learn not to say all the thoughts in my mind.

that push me closer into the man i had left behind

the seedless words of my youth [and confusion.] different thoughts, different times.

you were her and i was him and neither of us knew what was right.

/and they were out of our minds.

six o'clock in the morning and will you listen again

cause it's been 10 years and counting and i'm still counting my friend.

when you think back to the day do you still think of "the bends"?

i know i do and then i smile and (yeah) i still put it in.

feb 17 2003

7 days of creation

easy chords are (G6  Am7  D)

once upon a time long ago as they would say

God sat upon his throne in a sad faced kinda way.

you see, He was alone in the universe He created

so He said "I know what I'll do. I'll make myself  some friends,

people who will Love me as much as I love them."

so he set to work to build them a place they would call earth.

in the beginning  it was dark. so He said let there be light.

as He said it so it was and we had day from night\

he separated the waters and gave us a bright blue sky (1st day)

the waters were beautiful but there gonna need a place to stand

as He said it so it was out came dry land

and the waters receded and the land came out and it was good. (2nd day)

you know i'm gonna give 'em tummy's, they're gonna need something to eat.

let there be trees, seeds & plants veggies and green green leaves.(3rd day)

and as He said it so it was, and it was good.

now He thought how will they know the difference between the day & night

so He said, "let there be stars in the distance and a sun burning bright. a moon for the night time to shine on them it's light. and as He said it so it was and it was good. (4th day

the waters just seemed empty so He made fish so they could swim.

the land seemed barren too so He made animals that pleased Him.

every bug every slug every beetle and cat every creepy insect every bird and every bat. all the cows and ox and sheep and lamb and turkey and geese and pigs and spam ("hey spam isn't an animal!" - kid's voice.) (mine: oh, "i wasnt' sure...")He made them all because He loves all kinds of different things.

and to this day on the earth the creatures that He made still teem. (5th day)

and God said to Jesus let us make man in our image.

let him rule over the fish in the sea and the birds and over every living creature.

and God made them both man and the woman.

and He Loved them both and set them in charge of everything under the heavens.

and God saw what He had made and it was good. (& 6th day)

on the 7th day 'he rested. not necessarily because He was tired.

but even God knows you've got to time some time to unwind.

so He blessed the 7th day and He called it Holy.

some people want to tell you these things just happened for no reason.

the sun the moon the stars and all the planets and the seasons

but with God anything is possible, even the impossible

but that makes as much sense as a television wishing it could go for a swim.

if you don't believe me then ask Him.

Hey girl you were born in the 70’s

Hey girl you were born just for me

Hey girl you were born in 1973

Hey girl you were born right at the right time for me!

Hey girl you were born on an island

Her girl you were born

Hey girl don’t you want to come down

Hey girl don’t you want to come around

Hey girl you were born in the 70’s just for me

Hey girl, what did you do with your time?

Hey girl, what did you do with your time?

Hey girl, what did you do with your time?

Hey girl, could you make it mine?!

Hey girl you were born in the 70’s

Hey girl you were born in 1973

Hey girl you were born just for me

Hey girl you were born right at the right time for me!

Put on your ol’ fur coat, it’s 1973

Put on your ol’ fur coat, you were meant just for me
